The former PSOE attorney in the Cortes of Castilla y León was arrested on Monday night after shouting and repeatedly knocking on the door of his partner’s home, Ángel Hernández, who is accused of crimes of threats, harassment, coercion and mistreatment in the field of violence against women, has announced that he is resigning from all political and public positions.

Through a statement, Hernández, who was released yesterday after testifying in the Court of First Instance and Instruction 3 of Soria, has stressed in a statement sent by the regional PSOE that he has “always” tried to act with “exemplarity.” ” in his public and private life, with the “responsibility” of the positions he has held.

In addition to the crimes of threats, harassment, coercion and mistreatment in the area of ??violence against women, the Court initiated proceedings for attacks or resistance to agents of authority, as explained by the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla y León.

In addition, the court decreed that Ángel Hernández was prohibited from approaching within 300 meters of his partner, as well as from communicating with her by any means, and he must also appear before the judicial authority when summoned.

In the statement, Hernández thanked the “numerous signs of public and private support” that he claims he has received since yesterday, and also thanked “the respect of those who treat what happened as something limited to the strictly private sphere, which has led to a open judicial case” for which he has asked for “respect”.

Hernández has expressed that these have been “very complicated days personally” for him, which is why he has decided to resign “irrevocably” from all his public and organic positions that he holds to “avoid harming the Spanish Socialist Workers Party and the project that develops by and for this land”.

In this sense, the former prosecutor, who has thus lost his status as a certified person and will be tried in Soria, has stressed that he has communicated this resignation “immediately” as soon as it was possible after being released.

For all this, Hernández has renounced his role as attorney in the Cortes and, with it, the General Secretariat of the Socialist Parliamentary Group. Likewise, he has resigned from his position on the Autonomous Executive Commission of the PSOE of Castilla y León.

“I am grateful for the help and effort of each and every one of my colleagues with whom I have shared work and care for this Community. I wish them the greatest successes, because they will be those of all the citizens of Castilla y León,” he stated. Hernandez.

Finally, after being suspended from militancy yesterday as a precautionary measure by his party, Hernández has communicated that he has also requested his resignation as a member of the PSOE, although he has stressed that his commitment to Soria “remains as strong as the first day”, therefore that “will continue working for and for this land”
