The PP makes Armengol the target of its political offensive and calls for his resignation

The PP made official in Congress yesterday the political offensive against the president Francina Armengol, and registered in a “solemn” and “forceful” manner a letter to demand her resignation, which, predictably, will not go beyond the mere presentation Another thing is what could happen in the Senate, where the popular people have an absolute majority and where today the Bureau will receive the request to create an investigation commission on the plot, in which they do not rule out asking for an appearance.

The steps, in any case, will be adjusted to the interests that mark the current political situation, in which from Carrer Génova they foresee “more episodes, more details and more ramifications” of the Koldo case, the alleged corruption scandal that now splash the socialists.

“The president of Congress cannot continue for one more second as the third authority of the State. We are facing a scandal of profound magnitude”, said the parliamentary spokesman of the PP, Miguel Tellado. “Whether he is an accomplice or a victim, he has a political responsibility”, said Borja Sémper, after the steering committee meeting, for whom the former Balearic president, aside from the possible legal consequences of his management, is politically guilty for “lack of supervision”, “negligence” or “complicity”. That is why both the one and the other insisted on asking the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, who, as they have reiterated since the outbreak of the case, “knew it and covered it up” for an explanation.

The argument of the PP to ask for the exit of Armengol and for him to follow in the footsteps of the former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos, the first chip that has fallen from a domino that the opposition predicts will be long, is that it caused a ” contrasted damage” to the public coffers of the Balearic administration for its “inadequate” exercise of power, in which it allowed itself to be carried away by “cronyism” and “arbitrariness”, following the instructions of a plot “promoted by the PSOE”.

At this point, moreover, the populists tried to open a crack in the ranks of their political adversaries, because there were other regional socialist presidents, such as the Aragonese Javier Lambán or the Mancheque Emiliano García-Page, who “did not they are from Sánchez”, who did not buy masks from the company involved in the corruption scandal that is being investigated by the National Court.

So, one more day the leadership of the PSOE had to remain on the defensive yesterday to try to cheat the storm, it assured that it always acts “with force” in the face of any evidence of corruption in its own ranks and denounced that the Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s formation bases its entire offensive on “slander and defamation”. “Zero tolerance for corruption”, reiterated the spokeswoman for the PSOE executive, Esther Peña.

In Ferraz, they try to counterattack the popular people, to whom they demand explanations. The only two deputies who appear so far cited in the judicial summary of the Koldo case, Peña alleged, are former minister José Luis Ábalos, who already left the mixed group in Congress – “the PSOE did not have a pulse to make a decision”, when demanding his resignation from the seat – and precisely the spokesperson of the PP in the Lower House and Feijóo’s number two, Miguel Tellado. This, warned the spokeswoman of the PSOE, is no “lucubration”, like those, in her opinion, wielded by the PP to try to “tarnish the good name and reputation” even of the wife of the President of the Spanish Government , Begoña Gómez. And that’s why he insisted that Tellado will have to appear before the commission of inquiry they are promoting to Congress.

“Armengol does not appear in the summary”, concluded Peña. And he warned that the demand for resignation registered by the PP has “no legal recourse”.
