The Jeltzal spokesman, Aitor Esteban, made it clear yesterday that his support for the new government will depend on the degree of compliance with the ten-page text they have agreed with the Socialists.

The deputy of the Basque group staged in Congress a vigilant and demanding support of his five deputies, subject to the fulfillment of the agreed commitments. Esteban did not show enthusiasm for the stage that opens, but he did dedicate a good part of the intervention to highlight the commitments signed last week. There is satisfaction with the signed agreement, although there are doubts about the guarantees of compliance.

The Jeltzales look back, at the last legislature, and caution is required. “I’m not kidding, we all know each other from the last party, understand the legislature,” said Esteban. His doubts also stem from the need to unite the disparate interests of the investment partners. “The experience of the previous legislature tells us that, rather than sharing a joint vision, some groups thought they had the right to develop their entire electoral program and the rest of us had to come to terms with fait accompli. This is over,” he said.

Esteban, in any case, was clear pointing out that they do not see any other possibility that does not go through Sánchez: “His candidacy is the only real possibility to open the doors of a legislature, to facilitate a government that depends on the wishes of Vox does not enter into our approaches”.

The Jeltzal spokesman threw several jabs at the right and the extreme right: “Even this investiture can be called a coup d’état. What a bar and what a lack of democratic sense and country!”, he indicated. Looking towards the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, he added an allusion to the counterparties that he would have offered them in exchange for their support: “Spain is falling apart… One day perhaps I will explain what they came to offer us a couple of months”. As a result of this statement, E lDiario Vasco made public that the people offered the Ministry of Industry to the PNB in ??exchange for their support for Feijóo’s investiture. As is known, the Jeltzales refused to follow the path of a possible agreement with the PP.

At this point, Esteban brought up to date a dialogue he had with Mariano Rajoy in 2016. On that occasion, from the podium Esteban told the president of the PP: “If you want me, , da menos leña y más grano”, to which Rajoy replied: “If you want grano, I will leave you my tractor”. Well, yesterday Esteban updated the reble for Feijóo: “Alberto, your tractor tiene gripado el motor, por usar aceite Vox”.
