Shaila Durcal (44) began on Saturday in the Californian city of Glendale the musical tour that will take her for more than a month through the United States and Mexico, where she is a much-loved artist, as was her mother, Rocío Dúrcal, with who has a strong physical resemblance. 5 years ago, one of his dogs tore off part of a finger when he tried to separate them from a fight. The accident was a turning point in his life. He left Houston (Texas), where he lived, and returned to Madrid to be close to his brothers: “I needed them”, he says. At the beginning of the summer, he also proposed to adopt healthier habits: “The changing life of artists does not help. I have always had excess kilos that prevented me from breathing well. I have scoliosis and I finish the shows with back pain”, the singer explains to this newspaper.
The first thing he did was quit smoking, then he put himself in the hands of Pronokal’s medical team and had the support of his sister Carmen Morales (52), who also wanted healthier routines: “With the premenopause I began to notice physical changes – comments the eldest daughter of the remembered Rocío Dúrcal and Júnior – so we decided to start the process of losing weight and changing habits together”. They confess that they have had the support of Pronokal, but doing it together has been part of the success, “because we both understood what was happening to us”, explains Shaila. So, she has lost 20 kilos, and Carmen, 15.
For Shaila, the relationship she maintains with her sister “is very fun and a lot of complicity. Now the almost 9-year difference is no longer noticeable”. And he admires “their independence, because I die if they leave me alone”. Carmen, for her part, admires Shailita, as she calls her, “that she has been able to settle in as many places as she has lived and the fact that she is so united with her husband, because I have not seen them never argue”.
Shaila and Mexican Dorio Ferreira got married 15 years ago. They have always lived with Aitana, 19 years old, born from a previous marriage of his, but whom Dúrcal always refers to as “my daughter”. “Dorio is my manager, producer, bassist… We are always together, but we have managed to find a balance and of course we argue, but for silly reasons”.
In November, Carmen separated from Luis Guerra, after 11 years of marriage, “despite the fact that family ties continue, we are also neighbors and share custody of the dogs”. She lives alone with her cats. His son Christian, born 26 years ago from the relationship with Óscar Lozano, lives with his girlfriend. He studied hotel management and works in a hotel. “My parents forced me to study a career and I opted for Publicity, although I did not practice, and I have done the same with my son, so that he has job security”.
Carmen started out as a child singer with her brother Antonio. She debuted as an actress in the series Al salir de clase. Since then, he has developed his career mainly in theater and is now preparing two projects for next year. In addition, she has resumed singing lessons “if” she is offered a musical or to compete in Tu cara me suena, in which Shaila served as a judge in the fourth season. “It would be a challenge, because it would leave my comfort zone.” They have also tried her for Masterchef celebrity, and she hopes to be selected for future editions, because she is not “scared of work and I’m a cook”.
