Families from 39 of the 50 Spanish provinces were able to celebrate their good fortune yesterday. The first prize in the Reis raffle, which went to the number 94974, was one of the most distributed in memory and almost the entire Spanish geography scratched off a tenth of it, valued at 200,000 euros. After a year ago, L’Escala, on the Costa Brava, distributed almost entirely the first prize – around 80 million euros -, this year luck has not been elusive in Catalonia either, although, this yes, it has been less generous. A dozen Catalan cities pinched a part of the most coveted prize on Kings Day, around thirty million euros. The lucky municipalities were Barcelona, ??Mataró, Montgat, Sabadell, Corbera de Llobregat and Sant Vicenç dels Horts, in the province of Barcelona; Porqueres, Anglès and la Jonquera, in Girona, and Corbera d’Ebre, in Tarragona. Lleida had to settle for part of the third prize. It was distributed by the number 1 administration of Tàrrega, which sold ten loose tithes, which were left in the Urgell capital, according to Rosa Matas.
Among the most fortunate Catalan cities with the first prize, Corbera de Llobregat stands out, which distributed 20 million euros among its neighbors. Gustavo Gómez, the manager of Lottery 2 administration in the municipality, which has been open for less than a year, was struck by the news at home, while he was opening the gifts from Reis with his son. “We were as a family, having fun with the gifts, when they called me to tell me. Frankly, I thought they were pulling my hair”, explained the lottery seller, in statements collected by the Catalan News Agency. A number he sold over the counter. Among the lucky ones, there is a group of ten workers from the Can Rafel hotel in the nearby municipality of Cervelló, who shared a tenth, and two sisters who decided to share a ticket. “It will serve to cover some holes”, said Cati Díaz, one of the sisters, in statements to the Efe agency.
Ten numbers (a series) of the first prize were sold at the lottery administration number 1 of Sant Vicenç dels Horts, all per window. Two million which is not bad either. A fact that has contributed to the fact that this Christmas has probably been one of the happiest for the lottery seller Ángeles Toro, who on December 22 already distributed four million euros with a series of the big Christmas number, 88008 .
Arriving and grinding is what Óscar López, responsible for the lottery administration on Carrer Galileu in Barcelona, ??has done. It has been just over a year since they opened the establishment and they have already handed out their first millionaire prize. Specifically, the Barcelona administration sold a series (ten issues), about two million, in prizes. The administration of Carrer Sant Pau in the Catalan capital also handed out some tenths of the winning finish.
The town of Montgat (Maresme) was awarded twice, as it distributed a small part of the 94974 and also the third prize, the 57033.
In the towns of Anglès, Porqueres, la Jonquera and Corbera d’Ebre, only one tenth was sold. In this last municipality of the Terres del Ebre, chance wanted the lucky ones to be the owners of the town’s wine cellar, who just two days ago bought a number per machine. The owners wanted to keep the news a secret, but the excitement of the day got the better of them. “We wanted to talk about it with the family first, but it got out of our hands, now the whole town knows,” acknowledged its manager, Francesc Cortiella, shortly after the draw.
And for carambolas of life, the one starring the Rosas family of lottery sellers. If in 2019 they distributed 17 million euros from the Christmas lottery from the El Trèbol de Ripoll administration, in 2020 they repeated with the delivery of another 7.5 million. Now they have moved their luck a few kilometers further south, in Anglès, where they sold a tenth of the winning finish to the La Bruixeta del Trèbol administration.
The number 94974, the first prize of the Reis draw, was sold in 142 lottery administrations in 39 Spanish provinces.
The second, which fell on number 89634, was distributed entirely in Móstoles (Madrid), while the third was also the most widely distributed. In Catalonia, tithes were sold in the towns of Terrassa, Cornellà de Llobregat, Montgat and Tàrrega.
