King Felipe VI has announced that, after the definitive rejection by Congress of the investiture of the popular candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the next round of contacts between the representatives of the political parties with parliamentary representation will begin next Monday and will last until Tuesday.

This was communicated in a press release after receiving notification of the result of the vote from the president of the lower house, Francina Armengol.

Following the resignation of the parliamentary groups of Esquerra Republicana, Junts, EH Bildu and the representation of the BNG, the monarch will receive, in order from least to greatest representation, the spokespersons of UPN, Canarian Coalition, PNV, Sumar and Vox on Monday and PSOE and PP on Tuesday.

For Sumar, the acting vice president Yolanda Díaz will attend the meeting; for the PSOE, the acting president, Pedro Sánchez, will do so, with the intention of being designated a candidate for re-election by the King, and for the PP, the rejected candidate Alberto Nçuñez Feijóo.

After the second vote, Feijóo has been rejected as president of the government by the deputies by 172 votes in favor, 177 against and one null vote.

Since an investiture attempt has already taken place after the elections, a deadline has been set for other candidates to try. As dictated by the Constitution in its article 99, a period of two months now begins for new investiture attempts to occur, which are counted from the first failed vote, that is, that of this Wednesday, September 27.

The next candidate, in this case Pedro Sánchez, has a deadline of November 27. If it fails, new general elections will be called that day.
