The Government has agreed to create a follow-up commission to “ensure that all the competences of the Generalitat are respected”. This was announced by the spokeswoman for the Government, Patrícia Plaja, after an Executive Council held this morning chaired by Pere Aragonès.
According to the spokesperson for the Catalan executive, “the regulatory movements of the state will be analyzed paying full attention to the separation of powers”, in the face of “possible interference by the state”. The Government “is reinforced” in this way before a possible majority of PP and Vox after the general elections on July 23 to ensure, according to Plaja, “that the powers of the Generalitat are respected.”
“If any interference is detected,” Plaja has warned, “the commission will act immediately.”
During a press conference in which the executive’s agreements were announced, the opening of three new Government delegations abroad “to strengthen the delegation networks” was also explained.
The executive led by Aragonès has announced that it will expand “the institutional presence abroad” with the opening of offices in Greece, Libya and Egypt.
The Minister of Education, Anna Simó, has also referred to the latest rulings of the TSJ that oblige three educational centers to do one more subject in Spanish. Simó has regretted that the TSJ enters into the campaign and has considered that it “exceeds” its functions. According to the consellera, they will appeal the sentences, which are not final.
On other issues, the Government has also announced the details of the National Reading Plan, which “will encourage reading among people of all ages” and “will prioritize reading in Catalan.” “Reading must be protected, cared for, promoted and promoted”, added Plaja.
