The one who last term was mayor of Badalona between November 2021 and June 2023, the socialist Rubén Guijarro has been the new manager, administrator and economic manager of the PSC since last Monday. It is a paid organic position in the executive of the Catalan socialists.
According to sources close to the former mayor, the executive commission of the PSC appointed Guijarro to his new organic position on Monday, after having lost the mayoralty a few weeks ago due to the absolute majority victory of Xavier Garcia Albiol (PP).
Although Guijarro has not yet resigned from the act of councilor, it is foreseeable that he will do so soon, which will allow the former Security councilor of the previous quadripartite, Christian Carneado, to become part of the socialist municipal group.
On the other hand, Guijarro has stopped leading the municipal group of the PSC in Badalona in favor of Fernando Carrera, who was number three on the socialist list in the last municipal elections, where the party only got four mayors.
Carrera was also on Manuel Valls’s list, with Ciutadans, in the 2019 municipal elections and was an adviser to the former French Prime Minister’s municipal group until he abandoned the project and later joined the socialist ranks.
