The Valencian Government is going to allocate 7.62 million euros to subsidize the payment of the sanitation fee to 173,468 families considered to be the most vulnerable consumers, which will be 30% in the case of people in vulnerable situations and 50% for those considered severely vulnerable.

The plenary session of the Consell approved this Friday the decree law by which the postponement of the payment of the sanitation fee to all Valencians is extended from 18 to 36 months, and also bonuses of 30% for vulnerable families and 50% for severely vulnerable, which will benefit 173,000 Valencian families.

The spokesperson and Minister of Finance, Ruth Merino, has indicated that with this decree law they try to “fix the mess” left by the Consell of Ximo Puig, whom she has accused of “deceiving all Valencians” about the sanitation and “lie saying that they were going to delete it”, when what was done was to apply a moratorium on their subscription.

He has indicated that this 18-month deferral in the sanitation fee, which amounts to 280 million, has begun to be paid in the August water bills, so this new agreement, which extends it to 36 months, will help all Valencian families, and in addition, “one more step” has been taken to help the most vulnerable with bonuses.

In this way, 173,468 families considered the most vulnerable consumers will see a discount on the payment of this pending sanitation fee: 30% for 81,530 people in vulnerable situations (an amount of 2.65 million euros) and 50% for 91,938 vulnerable people. severe, according to the criteria of the thermal social bonus (4.97 million euros).

With this measure, an attempt is made to “solve and alleviate the hardship that has come to families” with the increase in their water bill for the most vulnerable, said Merino, who indicated that a “balance” has been sought between “hack” that this increase meant for them and that it was not “so bloody” for these families.
