Sometimes there are words that are used in the wrong way. That’s what happens with one of my favorite words, which is character. To begin with, whenever we hear this word we relate it as a way of responding to emotions. When we attribute this word to someone, we mean that they have responded firmly and forcefully. And this is totally wrong, since this meaning corresponds to the word temperament. Character includes the way a person thinks, feels and acts, and always reflects their values ??and ethics. And it is usually manifested in a notary way when the great challenges appear. If I had to assign the trophy to the football player with the most character, I would without a doubt give it to Toni Kroos. It baffles me the way he controls all the events and the way he makes decisions so well. In addition, it is clear that at no time does it mean that the German is a cold and distant man, his emotions reach him, but at no time do they rule him.

He left the German team in absolute fullness, but understanding that that time was much more interesting to devote to family life. He also left Bayern when they had what could surely be understood as the best coach, which was Pep Guardiola. He considered that he was not valued and understood that he had to leave. He left without rare stories and showing a great personality. And if we observe many details of his game, we see his ability not to let himself be hard by emotions. It was curious to see how in the dispute of the Super Cup final and with the whole public of Saudi Arabia booing, he did not change at all. His game also shows that character where decisions prevail over emotions and where a score against him never conditions him. For this reason, and as it happens with Busquets, the slowness with which he moves his body does not harm him, because he has already used his head, sensed the move and scanned the pitch before receiving the ball. And that’s why he’s a fast player, because he stays firm in making decisions.

That is why I dare to say that it is a key element in the evolution of Real Madrid’s young players. Training every day with this man if you have qualities, and the youngsters of Madrid have them, is an absolute guarantee of growth. Look at Valverde, a bit of a player, who now, after two or three years, has enriched the game with the pause and simplicity that no doubt shows that he drinks from Toni Kroos. We think that character, as it is influenced by education and socialization, can be acquired, and there is nothing better than having Kroos around every day.
