The barking of a visitor’s support dog has echoed in the plenary session of the European Council, after the appearance of Úrsula Von der Leyen, and a few minutes after the intervention of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The moment has caused laughter from MEPs, including the president of parliament, Roberta Metsola, who has clarified the situation; “Dear colleagues, we must have a support dog in the chamber,” commented the representative of Malta.

The European Parliament allows the entry of assistance and support dogs, and even allows the animals to continue accompanying their owners within the chamber if necessary.

The networks have already echoed the moment that has been related to the ‘perro sanxé’ meme that the PSOE later used as part of its electoral campaign, and that Sánchez himself mentioned during the presentation of his book, yesterday.

The President of the Government appeared in the chamber just before Von Der Leyen, to close and evaluate the presidency of the European Council that Spain has held during this semester. The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont also attended the plenary session.
