Catalonia is a diverse land rich in culture, art, gastronomy and with incredible landscapes full of contrasts. To discover its wonders, La Vanguardia invites readers to participate in the second edition of the 7 Wonders of Catalonia photo competition, sponsored by Reale Assegurances and Naturgy.
This initiative aims to photograph what defines or makes Catalonia special. Its streets, its squares, its beaches, its landscapes, its nature, its traditions, its gastronomy, its monuments… It is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the summer holidays and portray with a camera or mobile phone the most incredible corners of Catalan geography and culture.
And what could be better than sharing the experience by participating in this La Vanguardia competition, which last year, in its first edition, brought together more than 12,000 photographs contributed by readers.
The images shared in this new call for the contest will be classified in a total of seven categories: wonderful monument, eco, urban, nature, historical, traditions and gastronomic. Each will have a winner, who will receive a selection of Catalan wines and who will be given a trophy from Les 7 meravelles de Catalunya. But there will be more prizes. Among all the participants we will raffle lots of cava every week and you can also get an iPhone 14.
Apart from these seven categories, in which the winners will be chosen by the competition jury, La Vanguardia readers will be able to vote for the most popular photograph among the 25 preselected candidates among all the images shared by readers participating in the competition until August 18.
In the first edition, the seven wonders of Catalonia chosen were the Montgrí Castle (monument), the Ebro Delta (eco), the Pont del Petroli de Badalona (urban), the landscape of the Hermitage of Pertusa (nature), Besalú (history), the devil dances (traditions) and the romesco sauce and calçots (gastronomy).
In addition, readers chose a snapshot of flowering peach and other fruit trees in the colorful fields of Aitona as the most popular photograph, signed by David Pérez.
The competition is already underway, with the aim of collecting seven more wonders of Catalonia in each of the competition’s categories. What is your favorite landscape? And your monument? Which dish best defines Catalan cuisine? Now it’s time to show it with your photos. Participate in it!
