Two Vox events in Manresa and Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) with the presence of the party’s spokesperson in the Catalan Parliament, Joan Garriga, experienced scenes of tension and incidents this Saturday due to protests called against them by Arran, a youth organization linked to the cup.
With shouts of “racists and fascists out of our neighborhoods” or “they will not pass”, several dozen protesters have protested in Manresa against the presence of the Vox information tent, where Garriga had gone to present his mayors in Manresa, Inma Cervilla, and Sant Vicenç de Castellet, Inma Mojarro.
“In the face of their hatred, our love for Catalonia and Spain, our commitment to legality and coexistence,” Joan Garriga declared, regarding a protest for which a police cordon of several Mossos agents has been deployed.
Although the protest has not grown larger, there has been at some point the throwing of eggs and tomatoes, some of which have hit the back of the Vox parliamentary spokesman, who has tried to confront the protesters.
For his part, the president of the formation, Santiago Abascal, has stated on Twitter that “those street thugs are in the pay of Sánchez’s partners.” “We are going to put that mob in jail and we are going to represent hundreds of thousands of Catalans with dignity,” he concluded.
There have also been incidents in the Vox tent in Vilafranca del Penedès, where there has been a confrontation and clashes between representatives and militants of the formation and several protesters from Arran, who have tried to knock down the party tent without success.
As Vox has assured in a statement, in that confrontation the candidate of Santa Margarida i els Monjos has been attacked, who has had to be transferred to the hospital to be treated, according to the party, which has explained that it has reported the facts to the police .
