Team confirms: Danish landsholdsprofil is finished

Mads Mensah Larsen is no longer to be found in the Rhein-Neckar Löwen from next season.

The Danish bagspiller will not get his contract extended with the German team. It writes the club on its website.

The same applies for the Spanish midfielder Gedeón Guardiola, who also must hunt for a new club.

– It is never easy to let good players leave the club. Gedeón and Mads has always be a part of the success of the club, and we have achieved a lot in the last season, says sports director Oliver Roggisch.

– I am sure that they will do everything for the club until their last day here in the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.

Mensah came to bundesligaklubben in 2014, where also the Danish coach Nikolaj Jacobsen started as a coach in the club. They have both helped to win two German championships in 2016 and 2017 with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.

The German håndboldmedie Handballplanet wrote last week that Mensah will switch to Flensburg-Handewitt next summer.

TV2 Sport have been in contact with the Flensburg-Handewitts director Dierk Schmäschke, who reject that which is written under the to agreement, but say that Mensah is an interesting topic.

– Mads Mensah Larsen is as an attractive play, as we and many other clubs have kept an eye on for several seasons. We have been in contact with him, but more specifically, the negotiations have not been.

He and the Rhein-Neckar Löwen must first find out what they do, but I want to emphasize – despite the rumors – nothing is decided yet, said Schmäschke Friday.
