Two canadian bryllupsfotografer’ve had to pull a controversial photo from social media after it has been subject to fierce criticism. It writes, among other things, Time Magazine

the Handmaids are – in the author Margaret atwood’s universe – women, that in a near future in what was once the UNITED states are held captive and ritually raped to bear children for the ruling upper class in a fictional state called Gilead.
the Wall, as a wedding couple is photographed in front of, included in the Handmaid’s tale series as a place where people who in one way or another has offended against the strict religious doctrines of Gilead are hung.

On the social media is the unconventional bryllupsfoto been criticised for being insensitive in relation to the serious issues such as the oppression of women, dictatorship, torture, etc. there is play in the tv series and the books.

for the Photographers who have taken the photo, and subsequently inserted the house close to handmaids, to call criticism of their work for a ‘witch hunt’ and says that they said yes to make the picture simply because the bride and the groom were big fans of the series.
‘The Handmaid’s tale’ and ‘The Testament’
the Novel ‘The Handmaid’s tale’ was written by the now 79-year-old canadian author Margaret Atwood.
‘The Handmaid’s tale’ was released in 1985 and was the Danish title ‘Tjernerindens narrative’.
Since its release it has been made for both feature films, opera, and most recently a popular tv series.
The Book ‘The Testament’, which is published in Danish with the title ‘Gileads daughters’ tells about events taking place 15 years after the events in ‘The Handmaid’s tale’.
IN the UNITED states, the book is printed in a first few copies of 500,000 copies.
Atwood has explained that she has written ‘The Testament’ to answer readers ‘ questions about what’s happening with the women and the regime in Gilead.
She has also written on, because she sees the trends of the time – among other things, in Donald Trumps the UNITED states – that makes the story relevant again.
the streaming service Hulu has teamed with MGM secured the rights to make it in the new novel into a television series. It is the same service, which is behind the ‘The Handmaids Speech’.
Margaret Atwood does not deny, that she will write more books about the totalitarian regime of Gilead.
– I will never say never, for I have previously done, where things have subsequently changed, she says.
