The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, stated this Monday that “everything that has to do with border control and irregular migration policies” will continue in the hands of the State.

He said this in an interview on RNE collected by Servimedia when he was asked about the PSOE pact with Junts and the note on the delegation of powers in immigration matters for Catalonia.

The PSOE leader also highlighted that article 149 of the Constitution makes it clear that it is the State that has powers in immigration policy and added that both the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia and that of Andalusia include “defined powers” ??for these executives. regional.

Although he has recognized that Junts “will have its position” on this matter and what has been agreed, Sánchez has stressed that the “border control policies” are the responsibility of the General Administration of the State and that the issue that will be addressed with the autonomous communities, in coordination with the Executive, is about policies related to social integration.

He has insisted that it is about, after the European migration pact, “reviewing many of these policies to make them more effective and supportive.”
