Brittany Howard’s album ”point of reference” is the way in which the new group, the Alabama Shakes ‘ second album ”Sound & color” left off. The building blocks are the same and are about the same as traditional. Here, as there is a soul, rock, jazz, and white-funk with a solid foundation of Howard the elastic soulrockröst.
”Jaime” – named in honour of Howard’s sister, who died at the age of thirteen, and something else. For Howard, now puts together the building blocks for the larger, more unpredictable music. ”The 13th-century metal” is a hippiesoulmusikal, in miniature, of which, oddly enough, works just fine. ”Goat’s head” is a jazzy soul was about how Howard was raised by a black father and a white mother, is living with the prejudice of many people. ”Run to me” – the David Lynch doo-wop music of Vangelis-synthesizers.
this is Where Howard’s out, try new things, in a way she had never done before.
