Sharon Stone is no longer silent. The actress, one of those who has most denounced the abuses of the Hollywood industry, revealed some time ago that a producer had pressured her to have sex with her co-star in a film. Then he didn’t reveal any more details about the case: “I remember thinking, ‘They’re turning a blind eye to this actor when he couldn’t even do a whole scene in the test… Now they think if I shoot him he’ll become a good actor?’. No one is that good in bed to make this actor work well. I felt they could have limited themselves to hiring a talented co-star, someone who could play a scene and remember his line. I also felt that they could throw it away themselves and leave me out. My job was to act and I said so. I was considered difficult,” he told Variety in 2021.
Now, the 66-year-old artist has given more details. The film in question was Chased, which was released in 1993; the actor, William Baldwin, and the producer, Robert Evans, who died in 2019. During a chat on the podcast of journalist Louis Theroux, Stone explained that the producer pressured her to have sex with Alec Baldwin’s brother in order to improve his acting skills. “He called me to his office. He was walking around in sunglasses as he explained that he had slept with Ava Gardner and that I should do the same with Billy Baldwin, because that would make his performance better. And we needed him to get better in the movie because that was the problem,” Stone explains to Theroux.
Stone laments that the production team never considered the list of actors she submitted as candidates for the role that eventually went to Baldwin. And he also recalled his experience in Basic Instinct, in which he shared very high-pitched scenes with Michael Douglas and never had to go to bed with him. “I had no reason to throw Michael Douglas at me. Michael could come to work and know how to shoot, and do that scene,” he recalled. Of course Stone refused the producer’s requests. The film continued shooting and ended up being a box office hit.
Billy Baldwin, 61 years old, did not take long to give his version through X. “I’m not sure why Sharon Stone keeps talking about me all these years later. Is she still in love with me or is she hurt after all these years because I rejected her advances?” He also explained that he had his own meeting with the producer and that he asked him to give him control over the sex scene in order to “not have to kiss Sharon”. And he concluded: “I wonder if I should write a book and tell the many, many disturbing, perverted and unprofessional stories about Sharon. It could be fun.” The war is served.
