Red panda escaped from the Danish zoo

The red panda is a skilled climber, and Wednesday of last week, it succeeded for one of them to take the escape from the zoo in Odense.

– There were some citizens who saw a red panda out on Sønder Boulevard and reported it to the police, who then called me, who called the veterinarian and a zookeeper, so we could get the check again, explains Nina Collatz Christensen, who is chefzoolog and deputy director of the Odense Zoo.

The adventurous red panda was outside of the plant climbed up a high tree, and therefore it was necessary to shoot pandaen down with a numbing arrow.

The small climbs, however, has not been damaged by the trip outside of the enclosure.

– it has it fine, and it had it also, when it was come to himself, and had been awake. So was the in full the airport again inside the facility, says Nina Collatz Christensen.

The red panda, who mostly live in the treetops, live naturally in the mountainous regions of northern Myanmar and in the western parts of the chinese provinces Sichuan and Yunnan. It has been touted as a threatened species since 1988.

the red panda could possibly escape from the enclosure at Odense Zoo due to the large amount of rain that has fallen in January.

the Rain got namely bambusserne outside of the enclosure to pass into, and so could the red panda via the environmentally friendly climb out of the freedom.

– So has pandaen may at first thought not how delicious. There are bamboo’. But so have the sensed that something was stuck in the other end and have been able to climb out of the bed with the bamboo outside of the plant, explains Nina Collatz Christensen.

Why do the staff at Odense Zoo worked to flugtsikre the red pandaers fencing – again, one might say. It is not the first time that one of the red pandas run away from the enclosure.

the Latest panda-escape – though quite unintentionally – took place in January last year, where a red panda during a storm and was blown out of the tree and out of the plant.

– Each time it has been a new situation, and then we have of course done anything about it. We have cut environmentally friendly down, we have put the plates up, we have set the stream up, as a result of some of the other times they have been out. So, it is not the same escape route, they use every time, ” explains Nina Collatz Christensen.
