Change of depth in the executive of the Valencian socialists after resisting better than expected this 23-J. The general secretary of the PSPV, Ximo Puig, has proposed this Monday to elevate the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, to number two in his party.
The one who aspires to become the highest institutional reference for the socialists after the debacle of the regional and municipal governments (provided that Pedro Sánchez can form a government) will be the deputy general secretary of the party. This has been unanimously approved by the National Executive Commission (CEN) of the Valencian socialists that was held this Monday.
Bernabé gains prominence in a game where the debate on the succession of Ximo Puig has already begun, although in a very timid way. Now, with the good result of the Socialists in the generals and the option of re-editing the Executive, he is sure that the waters will go down calmer. With everything, Puig tries to place his pawns well so that he can pass in the medium and long term.
In addition to the appointment of Bernabé, the executive has also ratified that the general secretary of the PSPV will make his position as regional deputy compatible with that of territorial senator. The other chosen one has been Rocío Briones, until now general director of Employment at the Botànic.
In a statement, Puig explained that “the Valencian socialists are beginning a time in which we must revitalize and reinvigorate the party and promote political action” and has advanced that “this week we will celebrate a parliamentary day in which we will define the opposition model that we are going to do in the coming months”.
The Popular Parliamentary Group has also presented the proposal for the appointment of territorial senators and their alternates. Those designated are Gerardo Camps, Teresa Belmonte and Fernando Carbonell. The latter, they have explained in the PP, is an independent agreed with Vox “to put a representative of civil society of recognized prestige.” Carbonell is clinical chief of the General and Digestive Surgery Service at Hospital La Fe.
Knowing the names of the PP and PSPV proposals, the name of the territorial senator who will propose Compromís remains to be known. As La Vanguardia has learned, this afternoon there was a very tense meeting between Més and Iniciativa where they did not agree. Més wants it to be the former president of Les Corts Enric Morera, while Iniciativa points out that it has to be the current senator Carles Mulet. Otherwise, they explain, the regional agreement that the coalition signed to stand in the elections would be broken and a new crisis would open up in Compromís.
