Antonio Tejado entered provisional prison at noon yesterday for involvement in the robbery at the house of his aunt, the singer María del Monte, in August. Tejado was arrested, along with eight other people, on Saturday, in an operation by the Civil Guard against a gang that was dedicated to violently assaulting homes in the Aljarafe area, although it was not known what the relationship of the nephew of the singer with the band.
Yesterday, after spending 72 hours in the dungeons, it was learned that he was considered the intellectual author of the robbery, that is, the person in charge of providing information about the house and its inhabitants, and he was sent to the jail, without bail and with five other people. What seems ruled out, although it was said at the beginning, is that he is involved in the theft of the estate of Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio.
Due to the way the robbery happened at María del Monte’s house, suspicions focused on people who knew the house well, that is, in the singer’s environment, and Antonio Tejado was in the spotlight. In the assault, the criminals went straight to the room shared by María del Monte and his wife, Inmaculada Casal, where there was the safe with the couple’s jewels and also some inherited from their ancestors. He also drew attention to the fact that, although the gang is extremely violent, in this case there was hardly any physical violence and they were only gagged.
Yesterday in Telecinco’s morning magazine, Vamos a ver, it was revealed that Tejado had been accused of “membership of a criminal organization, robbery with violence, illegal detention, drug trafficking and reception”.
The entry into prison of Antonio Tejado has been a hard blow for María del Monte, even though she had been informed months before of the suspicions. In addition, the whole family was aware of Antonio’s bad life in recent times, the unrecommended company he frequented, his high standard of living and his addiction to alcohol and other substances.
According to a press release from the Civil Guard, the detainees intended to carry out a new heist in which they wanted to extract a million euros. Although the gang was wider, only six of them were put in provisional prison, among which is María del’s favorite and most media-savvy nephew.
On Sunday, when it was already known that she had been arrested, the Sevillian singer left her house and attended to the cameras that were waiting for her, from the car: “It’s been about five months and we’re going through the worst day of our lives” . And he added: “Suspicions are not good and I have not suspected and do not suspect anyone until a judge says what he has to say.” Yesterday, after the confirmation of her involvement, María del Monte took refuge at home. The one who spoke was Inmaculada Casal, who revealed to one of the collaborators of the program Y ahora Sonsoles that it was being “very hard and very difficult”.
It was the morning of August 25 when María del Monte and Inmaculada Casal experienced an event that is difficult to forget. Thieves broke into their home, in the Sevillian town of Ginés. The journalist’s daughter and her husband were also in the house that night. They tied their hands and threatened them with death in order to get the key to the safe. At nine in the morning, just four hours after the robbery, Antonio Tejado went to the house to comfort his aunt.
