The PortAventura World tourist complex yesterday inaugurated the largest photovoltaic plant for self-consumption in a resort of this type in Spain and one of the largest in Europe, which has involved a total investment of more than eight million euros.
The 11,102 solar panels, placed on the floor of the site, will be able to generate a third of the energy the park needs to operate. The company emphasized in a statement that with the installation of this photovoltaic plant “it takes another step in the commitment to reduce the carbon footprint and promote the use of renewable energies”, for which it has counted with Endesa as energy partner. With a power of 6.05 MWp, PortAventura Solar will generate 10GWh/year – the equivalent of the consumption of 3,000 families – of clean electricity. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the president of PortAventura World, Arturo Mas-Sardá, and the CEO of Endesa, José Bogas, among other managers.
