Winter is shortly upon us, and christmas is approaching. True to tradition, this means that there must be held christmas parties around the country, and unfortunately, this means also, that some people may be tempted to sit behind the wheel with too much alcohol in the blood.

Vlado Lentz and the rest of the country’s police officers must try to make sure that it’s not going to happen. And the policeman from the Channel 5 series ‘Politijagt’ says to Ekstra Bladet, that he and his colleagues are absolutely ready for the task.

– It is almost a tradition that the police are running out and doing control in connection with the julefrokostsæsonen. We do of course again this year. It is primarily preventive reasons, we are actually taking the most drunk drivers in the summer, he says.

But even though the police do not floss several drivers in the christmas season, then think Vlado Lentz nevertheless, it is important to be on the street.

– But I think many leave your car parked, because they know that there is a risk that they will be stopped – not just of us in the traffic police, but also all the other colleagues, such as running patrol, which, of course, also pay attention. We have the antennas out, and hopefully it’s to keep people from taking the car after a christmas party.

Vlado Lentz tells that, as a traffic cop keeps an extra eye on potential drunk drivers, when it is the peak season for christmas parties.

– Each of the companies holding the christmas party on a Thursday, but most do on Friday, so from the last Friday in november and the above happens by far the most. And here we are of course aware, that when we come out in the small hours. But basically, it’s just about to get stopped as many as possible in the period.

– I will say, that when the bell is after 22, then I try as far as possible to stop as many as possible – both to stop motorists, or by running out and picking each out, says Vlado Lentz.

He says that the police also use social media in the fight against spritbilisterne.

– We keep also an eye on what is happening, and we also read Facebook and the sort. So here we can see that there is a christmas party at the inn or restaurant, and then we drive past and see if there are people who run away. And so we stop them the with the same, he says, and continues:

– But, fortunately, there is in most cases not something to come after, because people get picked up or get a person who does not have drinking, to run, saith the færdselsbetjenten.
