A prodigy at only nine years from Belgium are close to of the take a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at The Technical University in Eindhoven. The nine-year-old Laurent Simons from Belgium being of its teachers described as an unusual genius.
Laurent’s father, Alexander Simons tells, that Laurent after the plans are finished his bachelor’s degree in the month of december. Then he must continue with a ph.d. in electrical engineering, while at the same time he will study medicine.

When Laurent started in the school, said his grandparents already, that he had a quite extraordinary ability. Laurent’s parents, Lydia and Alexander Simons, considered, however, that the grandparents grasslands Laurent’s intelligence.
But among the teachers at the school, it was quickly confirmed that Laurent was a genius. The teachers exposed Laurent for one test after the other, in order to measure his unusual abilities.
– the Teachers told us that he was almost like a sponge, soaking in knowledge for themselves, tells the father, Alexander.
Even if Laurent comes from a family of doctors, his parents, to date no explanation as to why their child prodigy is so fast to acquire knowledge. But the mother Lydia has her own theory – she says with a twinkle in his eye:
– When I was pregnant with Laurent in the stomach, I ate lots of fish.
The Technical University in Eindhoven has allowed Laurent to complete his study faster than the other adult students. The rector of the university Sjoerd Hulshof says the following about Laurent:
– Laurent is the fastest student we have ever had. He is not just hyper intelligent. He is also a very likeable boy, says Sjoerd Hulshof about the child prodigy that is already being pursued by some of the best universities in the world, who wants that he should take his PhD on just their universtiet.

Although Laurent clearly is able to acquire knowledge faster than most, his parents very aware that he also should enjoy his childhood.
– We do not want, that he must be serious. He gets to do the things he wants to do. We need to find a balance between his skills and the fact that he is still a child, tells danger Alexander.
Lauren tells himself that he loves to play with his dog Sammy as well as playing various games on his mobile phone. But in contrast to many other nine-year-old, he has already devised a partial plan for its future work in the future. He wants to develop artificial limbs and organs. But right now am he themselves the most to a small break in his studies, which he must use on a well deserved vacation to Japan.
The nine-year-old Laurent is also not without humor. On his Instagram, where he, with 13,000 followers, he has posted a little video of himself. For the video he writes: I am training here both mathematics and sport at the same time.
