Mother of two, sucked out of airplane

‘Boeing should redesign the motorafdækningen on all of their 737NG aircraft after an accident that killed a mother of two’, the investigators of the accident said.

the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigated the incident in april 2018, where a propeller broken, after which the remains of the penetrating motorafdækningen and hit the plane near a window, writes Sky News.

the Window was crushed by the propeller of the remains, which led to a quick pressure drop in the aircraft, and Jennifer Riordan, a 43-year-old banker and mother of two from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was partially sucked out of the plane.

It succeeded for the other passengers to pull her into the plane again, but it failed to save her life.

the NTSB said that the 24 propeller blades of the aircraft’s CFM-56-7B-engine was 18 years old and had been used for more than the 32,000 flights. One of the leaves were already cracked during the last inspection, but the damage was not discovered and fixed. Inspections are now more strict and regular.

the Chairman of the NTSB Robert Sumwalt said that the engine and aircraft manufacturers should develop stronger design to production to prevent broken propeller blades causing such a terrible tragedy again. Older aircraft of the same model must then be retrofitted with the new design, he said.

Boeing said that the improved inspections will mean that their planes are safe, but added that they are working on a designforbedring to meet the recommendations.

the Family of Jennifer Riordan stated to ABC News that they would like to thank the NTSB for the investigation of the accident, and that they hope that the new recommendations are taken seriously so that no other family ever experience a tragedy similar to their.
