After two weeks touring neighborhoods in Barcelona, shaking hands with potential voters and repeating slogans into the microphones, the candidates for mayor of the Catalan capital will enjoy a relaxing Saturday, family, walks and some theater.

The day begins with the traditional photo sessions of candidates called by some media, including EFE, in which they will be able to talk in a relaxed way after weeks of crossfire from their electoral trenches, and then their day of rest will really begin.

It has been the third consecutive electoral campaign for Ada Colau, mayoress of Barcelona and BComú candidate for re-election, and you already know how absorbing these fifteen days of rallies, debates and press conferences are.

After going to the appointment with the media that have called for family photos of the candidates with representation in the Barcelona City Council, Colau plans to spend the rest of the day with his children and his family: “If I do any city activity it will be fun and with children, because I really want to”, he explains.

The ERC candidate, Ernest Maragall, plans to take advantage of Saturday to decompress: he will eat with the family and, late in the afternoon, he hesitates between going to a concert or buying a ticket to see “L’alquimista” at the Teatre Nacional of Catalonia (TNC).

There is another forecast on his agenda, which he revealed excitedly yesterday Friday at a press conference: spending the afternoon with his brother Pasqual, the historic former mayor of Barcelona, afflicted with Alzheimer’s. “If I say it, maybe it will be misinterpreted… I’ll just go see Pasqual. I haven’t been able to do it for the last few weeks.”

The day will begin soon for the PSC candidate, Jaume Collboni, since he will meet with Salvador Illa, first secretary of the Catalan Socialists, first thing in the morning to take stock of the campaign and focus on the strategy for the coming days.

After meeting his electoral opponents at the photo sessions, and not having time to cook, he will go with his mother, sister and nephews to a restaurant in Nou Barris where they serve homemade food, before spending the afternoon at the Teatro Villarroel to witness “L’oreneta”.

Xavier Trias, former mayor from 2011 to 2015, has experienced again these days how demanding a campaign can be, so what the JxCat candidate most wants is to enjoy these 24 hours with his family.

After the obligatory photographs with the other candidates for mayor of Barcelona, he will spend the day with his wife and family, for the moment with nothing specific planned: he will decide “on the fly”.

The plans of Daniel Sirera, candidate of the PP, are to finally recover his daily visit on Saturday to the Ninot Market, where he will fill the shopping cart so that his refrigerator will last the whole of next week, which also promises to be intense .

At noon, he wants to walk and snack at the Galvany Trade Fair with his partner, before stretching out on the sofa at home and taking a nap watching a movie; If the nap isn’t too long, she’ll go for a walk downtown and, hopefully, meet his friends for dinner, whom he hasn’t seen in a while.

After her first campaign as headliner, the CS candidate, Anna Grau, wants, above all, to take a breather: it is what she plans to do this Saturday afternoon at home.

In the morning, after the photo sessions with the media, Grau has lunch with friends in Barceloneta on his agenda.

In 2019, Eva Parera ran in the municipal elections as Manuel Valls’s right-hand man and on this occasion it was she who led the candidacy of her party, Valents, alongside a campaign team with whom she has fraternized at all times. .

That is why, after the family photos of the candidates in the morning, and taking advantage of the fact that her daughter is spending the weekend out of town with a friend, Parera will invite her campaign team to lunch or a vermouth, no longer the pressure of the previous days: “They have worked a lot and now it’s time for us to see each other relaxed. More than a work team, we are a group of friends,” he says.

The idea of the mayor of the CUP, Basha Changue, who is presenting herself to Barcelona City Council for the first time, is to take advantage of the day to rest, be with her family and walk around the neighbourhood.

After participating in a total of 19 electoral acts in two weeks, in addition to hanging posters, visiting CUP tents and participating in debates, interviews and other meetings, what Changue wants most is to be home, walk with his children and his partner and “gather strength” for Sunday.

Another rookie in the Barcelona mayoral elections is Gonzalo de Oro-Pulido, a Vox candidate, who has focused the two weeks of the campaign more on creating content for social networks than on calling press conferences.

The verb he most wants to conjugate this Saturday for reflection is “rest”, and in his case that will mean spending the day with his children and strolling through the Sant Gervasi Trade Fair, on Muntaner Street.
