Lopes and Recio have a birthday

Long before shouting ufá that he descends from Cid Campeador and that he defends the glorious Spanish empire, Antonio Recio (“Mayorista, no limpio pescado”) was Josep López (Lopes), a convinced Catalanist with animosity towards Madrid and Spanish. These two characters who seem to be at opposite ends, however, have one point in common: that of being played by the Catalan actor Jordi Sánchez, who today celebrates sixty laps in the sun.

Currently, Sánchez is filming the fifteenth season of the series La que se avecina, from Mediaset, a comedy, which owes much of its success to Antonio Recio (“Qué bueno que soy y qué culito tengo”), because although the values ??he represents are more than despicable: xenophobic, homophobic, sexist… his masterful interpretation in the key of humor have turned Recio-Rancio into one of the characters most loved by the audience. “Deep down, it’s a bit sad because everything goes wrong”, confessed Sánchez in an interview about this role that he has played since April 22, 2007, when the first of the 186 episodes of the series that have been broadcast premiered -repeated times on the group’s channels.

The 73 episodes of the six seasons of the telecomedy Plats bruts have also been repeated numerous times on TVC – especially in the summer. It was Jordi Sánchez’s rise to fame, thanks to the pessimist Lopes, together with Joel Joan. The popularity of the series, broadcast from 1999 to 2002 and awarded with the Ondas, crossed borders beyond Catalonia and led Alberto and Laura Caballero to notice him in Madrid and give him an episodic role in Aquí no hay quien viva and then already fixed on La que se avecinca. Precisely, the fact that he had more and more job offers in Madrid was what forced him to separate from his artistic partner Joel Joan, with whom, in addition to Plats bruts, he founded the Krámpack theater and television production company. They also included the actress Mònica Glaenzel (Emma from Plats bruts), who was Joel Joan’s partner at the time, and Elisenda Alonso, wife of Jordi Sánchez, with whom she has two children, Arnau and Violeta.

Along with his actor facet, very common on television and also in the cinema, Jordi Sánchez is also a writer. On television, Plats bruts and L’un per l’altre are his creations, and in the theater he has signed works such as Kràmpack, Excuses!, Soc letja, Mitad y mitad (which was recently brought to the cinema under the title of Alimañas, who also directs and stars).

Outside the professional field, in 2021 Jordi Sánchez was in the news for having been in a coma for 24 days due to covid. Despite the seriousness of the situation, from which he was able to get out, the hospital world was not unknown to him, because he worked for years as a nurse in Vall d’Hebron, in Barcelona, ??while he was studying at the Theater Institute and thought how to say to their parents that of “¡Mamá, !” that Concha Velasco sang.
