The Game of Thrones family welcomes a new member. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, who played Jon Neu and Ygritte in the hit series and fell in love while filming it, have become parents for the second time. Leslie has given birth to a baby girl, a rep for the couple confirmed to Page Six. “They are delighted to welcome a baby girl into the family,” he declared.
The couple, who got married in 2018, already have a child, who was born a little over 2 years ago. In keeping with the goal of keeping their personal lives as private as possible, they didn’t reveal the son’s name then, and now they haven’t done so with the daughter’s either. They have only confirmed that both mother and child are doing well.
The actor revealed that his wife was pregnant for the second time during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in February. He also explained that he wasn’t sure the first son understood what it meant to become the big brother. In this sense, he assured that they were mentalizing him: “He will be a great big brother. It’s really exciting.”
Kit and Rose met in 2011 while filming the series. As they have explained several times, it was a sudden infatuation. Since then, they were a very discreet couple, and in 2017 the unforgettable Jon Neu proposed marriage to the wild Ygritte. They married in June 2018 at Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, which has been in Leslie’s family for 900 years. The celebration was attended by many Game of Thrones castmates, including Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister).
In mid-2020 they announced they were expecting their first child, and in February 2021 they welcomed their firstborn. Just a year before the birth of his first child, Kit Harington entered a rehabilitation clinic to undergo treatment for stress and alcohol abuse. In 2021, he spoke about the issue in The Sunday Times, and admitted that making that decision had made him “really happy”, and that he came to feel that there was no way out and that he could do nothing to change. “But achieving sobriety is a process in which you say: ‘No, I can change,'” he added to the same medium. Now, fully recovered from the loss, he can enjoy his wife and two children.
The 36-year-old British actor was recently seen in the Apple TV series A Challenging Future and, before that, in Marvel’s Eternals and Prime Video’s Modern Love. He will soon be part of the cast of the third season of HBO’s Industry.
For her part, the Scottish actress, also 36 years old, was part of the ensemble cast of Muerte en el Nilo, Kenneth Branagh’s second film as Hercule Poirot, and starred in La mujer del viajero in the time of HBO Max along with Theo James. The series was canceled after only one season.
