The slogan of Junts for the general elections on July 23 will be “Per Catalunya” and the formation attends the appointment with the polls with the commitment to defend the interests of Catalonia in the General Courts, in the Congress of Deputies and in the Senate and not to give away their votes for nothing. In the presentation ceremony of the candidates of the post-convergent formation, in the modernist Sant Pau venue, in Barcelona, ??the head of the party list in the four Catalan constituencies have spoken in this regard. “We do not accept one more humiliation, nor one more lie. Now it is up to us. Our raison d’être is to take Catalonia to where it deserves to be”, assured Miriam Nogueras.
The leader of the formation in Madrid has warned that “the sense of the Spanish state always goes against the economic, social and cultural interests of Catalonia”. “Saturday’s operation in Barcelona is the latest example,” added Nogueras, who took the reins of the Lower House parliamentary group in 2021 after the departure of Laura Borràs.
The post-convergent candidate has also considered that “the country’s project is at risk” and has asked that there be no more “tutelage”. “How long will we allow what happens in Catalonia to be decided in Madrid?” Nogueras questioned. “This is not about the right or the left, it is about the Kingdom of Spain or Catalonia, about reversing progress”, concluded the leader of JxCat, who added that “nothing, therefore, can be done as it has been done up to now “because they have not achieved “neither resources, nor skills, nor progress, nor opportunities, nor improvements, nor respect”.
In a similar line, the other three head of Lisa of the formation have spoken, Isidre Gavin (Lleida), Marta Madrenas (Girona) and Josep Maria Cruset (Tarragona) in an act in which Antoni Castellà, deputy of Junts, has also intervened in Parliament for a few weeks and a post-convergent candidate for the Senate, who has issued a serious warning against the risk of abstention. “Abstention is not an option”, he has emphasized himself.
“For years the political dream of Spanish political nationalism was to make a reform of the electoral law so that Basques and Catalans do not have the capacity to condition the State,” he stated. “Those people who defend abstention, with all the good faith of shaking something up, must be told that it will lead to the objective of Spanish nationalism. It is a shot to the head”, warned Castellà, who has demanded a “sense of State” to the independence.
In this sense, Madrenas has remarked that if Junts is not going to vote on July 23 “others will enter” the institutions. “If we want independence we have to vote for Junts”, she has concluded. “If we are not going to vote, the others are strong,” Gavín highlighted.
The event on Tuesday was attended by the staff of the formation, with the general secretary, Jordi Turull, the president of the Parliament, Anna Erra, the president of the national council, Josep Rull, as well as several members of the management and deputies of the Parliament . Who was not present was the president of the party, Laura Borràs. In Sant Pau was the Junts candidate for mayor of Barcelona, ??Xavier Trias, who was applauded by those present after being left out of the mayoralty of Barcelona at the last moment last Saturday.
