The management of IU Madrid demands explanations from Sumar after the bilateral relationship agreement with Más Madrid, which it calls “intolerable”, and asks to clarify whether by virtue of it the development of an autonomous brand for the Díaz project is waived.

They also warn that, based on this pact from which they feel excluded, Sumar’s “confederal” drift and that they will not give up their political capital to a project that does not recognize them.

This is what the Collegiate Commission of IU Madrid conveys in a letter to its militancy, in relation to the bilateral pact between Más Madrid and Sumar, where both forces express their “mutual recognition”, where Madrid training is recognized at the regional level as a force majority and reference of a “diverse” progressive space in the region.

This agreement has snubbed IU Madrid, which deduces from the information that appeared in the press that “the Sumar brand is not going to be developed in the region and that the Madrid electoral reference for Yolanda Díaz will be Más Madrid.”

“This situation leaves IU Madrid outside the Sumar coalition in the community, a completely intolerable fact and which represents another step in the confederal character that Sumar seems to be acquiring.”

Faced with this, IU Madrid explains that its training is “clearly federal” and, therefore, guides that the role played in Sumar must suppose “homogeneous development in the territories.”

“Will it be allowed that in the regions where IU is institutionally stronger, such as Andalusia or Asturias, the regional brand will be Sumar but not in others?”, asked the Madrid management of IU, which defends its position. with greater municipal implementation in the Community of Madrid.

He also delves into the fact that IU’s militancy “deserves respect” and they are not willing to “give up enormous political capital” to a project in which they are not recognized.

In this way, he has indicated that four members of the Madrid management, including its coordinator Álvaro Aguilera, will attend the national assembly of Sumar with the “sole objective of knowing, without intermediaries, the alleged agreements reached between Sumar and Más Madrid “.

On the other hand, he also alludes to the fact that in the face of the negotiation of the coalition candidacy for the European elections “it cannot be tolerated” that IU does not have, at least, the same influence on the 2019 list, where it then had two starting positions when he attended with Unidas Podemos.

“The only way to build a broad alliance is for all these extremes to be chosen in a scrupulously democratic manner among the constituent parts of Sumar, and not by Bonapartist designation of leaders without territorial roots.”

Finally, it emphasizes that the nature of Sumar in Madrid and in the rest of the country must be immediately clarified, clarify whether Díaz’s project is federal or confederal and clear up the “unknown situation of IU Madrid” in it.

Finally, it details to its bases that it will convene an extraordinary Regional Coordinator (its highest executive body) to address this matter after the Easter holidays.
