The paths of the model Gisele Bündchen and the former American football player Tom Brady parted ways in October amicably and without apparent reproaches. But six months later, their names appear together again in the press after the confessions of the Brazilian model about the reasons that led them to end their marriage.
During an interview for the United States edition of Vanity Fair, Bündchen says that she is mourning “the death of her dream”. A dream that consisted of forming an indestructible family with the popular quarterback and his three children, Benjamin Rein (14), Vivian Lake (11) and John Edward Thomas (16), the latter from Brady’s previous marriage to the actress Bridget Moynahan.
“It’s hard because you imagine that your life will be in a certain way and you do everything you can to achieve it”, explains the model, adding: “You give everything you have to achieve this dream, one hundred percent of yourself, and it’s shocking when it doesn’t end the way you hoped, despite the fact that you’ve worked hard to achieve it, but you can only do your part”, he says forcefully and throws a dart at Brady. In the same interview, Bündchen explained that during her marriage she felt closed in, unable to achieve her goals or that “dream” she refers to so much. “When you love someone, you don’t lock them in a prison and tell them: ‘This is the life you have to live.’ You free her to be who she is, and if you want to fly in the same direction, it’s incredible,” criticizes the 42-year-old model.
Freed from that commitment, Bündchen feels like a “wounded bird” now wants to take flight: “I don’t want to be limited. I want to spread my wings and fly”, he confesses. Despite the explicit statements about their breakup, the model assures that she currently maintains a good relationship with her ex-husband: “We are a team,” she says. The model is a reference in the fashion industry and although her days on the catwalk are over, she works non-stop for big fashion campaigns or as a star guest at luxury events, and her free time on dedicated to nature, yoga and of course to her children.
Despite the uproar that Gisele Bündchen’s interview has caused, Tom Brady has not yet spoken out. However, the NFL star shared a few hours after Bündchen’s statements were made public a sentence by Ralph Waldo that many Internet users intend to answer to the model: “What is success? Laugh a lot and often. Earning the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… Knowing that even a life has breathed better because you lived. That’s got it!” Brady posted.
