The mayor of Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès Nord), Filo Cañete (PSC), has highlighted the importance of joining efforts between municipalities that “share realities”, for which a “good understanding” is important, and has exemplified the relationship with Badalona

In an interview with EFE, the mayoress of Sant Adrià de Besòs stated that the establishment of shared synergies between localities is better when “you have common political lines”, because there can be “a good, much more fluid understanding” that allows things to “They can work much better.”

Cañete, which considers itself “very metropolitan”, has highlighted the joint work and the good synergies it has built with the current mayor of Badalona, Rubén Guijarro (PSC), while recalling that the neighboring city ” it cannot function as its own mushroom”, isolating itself from its environment.

“It cannot be isolated because it is not a small town, but rather a large city with more than 200,000 inhabitants, which in the region must have significant strength and driving force, and which has all the possible axes to do so,” Cañete stressed.

The mayoress has affirmed that “if your neighbor is fine, you are fine”, and has warned of the risk of shutting oneself away from the reality of the environment and not working in mutual collaboration, since “if something does not work for your neighbor , it can spread, and be careful”.

“We are surrounded by large cities, because of what they mean and also because of the volume of citizens”, Cañete stressed, while recalling the reality of “conurbation” that Sant Adrià de Besòs lives.

The mayoress has also called for taking into account, beyond the local reality, that “the representation that there is at a supra-municipal level is very important”, in reference to the Barcelona Provincial Council or the Metropolitan Area (AMB).

“We are governing in the Diputació and it is directly a very positive factor for the municipalities”, stated the mayoress of Sant Adrià, who, in turn, has also shown her “pride” for the management carried out by the AMB.

In addition, he recalled that the PSC is a “very municipalist” party that is based on “this useful policy” that wants to reach consensus and agreements through dialogue, and has stressed that they aspire to govern at other levels of the administration, such as the Generalitat.

Regarding the procés and its incidence in the municipal elections, Cañete has pointed out that “what people want is to live in peace and to live quietly”, and that the candidates who generate “confrontations and speeches that do not have any kind of depth or really a influence in the day-to-day life of their city” do a “disservice” to their citizens.

“Little by little the rope has been loosening,” said Cañete, while remarking that the leader of the PSC, Salvador Illa, “has done a good job,” based on “useful politics, dialogue, consensus, respect and serenity, without making a fuss”.

Cañete stressed that “the reality of citizenship is what it is and it is not a matter of stubbornly living another reality.” .
