The expected face-to-face between Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo was a dialogue of the deaf. Each had their previously studied script with the sole aim of seeking to erode the opponent. The two candidates spent far more time attacking each other than presenting their respective government programs. The passive attitude of the moderators even meant that during some moments it was not possible to follow the debate well because they both spoke at the same time and it was difficult to understand them.

It seemed as if Atresmedia, which has achieved a reputational success by monopolizing the only debate of the two candidates in the campaign, wanted to pay a symbolic tribute to Sálvame de Telecinco. Too much noise and too much tension. Sánchez and Feijóo spent much of the time accusing each other of lying, they exchanged very serious accusations, and also insinuations about their respective morality and honesty.

In the end the protagonists of the face-to-face were matches that were not on the set. Vox and Bildu were discussed more than the PP or the PSOE. Sánchez and Feijóo sinned excessively by using the formations of Santiago Abascal and Arnaldo Otegi to punish the opponent.

The president looked too nervous and tense, perhaps knowing that he had to take advantage of the only opportunity he had to try to recover the disadvantage predicted by the polls. The aspirant, for his part, made a big bet with the proposal to sign a document so that he would govern the list with the most votes, no doubt aware of his demographic superiority. It is possible that the populists today have reason to feel more satisfied than the socialists, but it is already known that, in these debates, everyone feels like a winner.

The popular candidate made the best use of the last minute by making a positive proposal about his government goals if elected president, while the socialist insisted more on the message of his entire campaign about the risk of the right winning and losing all the advances of these last years. If Sánchez manages to recover in what is left of the campaign, it will not be because of this debate.
