The Esquerra Republicana group in Parliament, like that of Junts per Catalunya, is committed to appealing the state law for the Right to Housing, one of the flagship regulations of the Pedro Sánchez Executive, approved in the final stretch of the last legislature .

The Republicans, who supported the approval of the text in the Congress of Deputies last April, like EH Bildu, have now decided to support the Parliament presenting an appeal before the Constitutional Court (TC) because said law invades the powers of the Generalitat. This was ruled by the Consell de Garanties Estatutàries (CGE), the Catalan advisory body, in a report requested by JxCat. Both the post-convergents and the PDECat and the PNV had voted against the rule going ahead.

On September 1, the Catalan Chamber will vote on whether or not to file an appeal before the TC, in a plenary session that is convened at the request of the post-convergents. The Republican group, led by Josep Maria Jové, has registered its own resolution proposal in which, following the recommendations of the CGE, they advocate filing an appeal. However, at the same time they claim to “maintain the essence of the law in relation to advances in housing matters for the whole world,” as Oriol Junqueras’ formation detailed in a statement on Tuesday.

The Socialists have already indicated that they will vote against appealing the regulations, while the Commons, which supported the law in the Lower House as a partner of the central government coalition -now in office-, and the CUP have not yet They have decided what they will do. In the same circumstance are PP and Vox. Ciudadanos, on the other hand, has already established its position: it will abstain. “We do not like the law for the Right to Housing of Pedro Sánchez or the response of the Catalan Executive and the proposal of Junts”, has summed up the deputy Anna Grau in statements to this medium.

The Basque Government, led by the PNV, also decided to file an appeal against the law for the Right to Housing, considering that it invades the powers of the regional Executive. The appeal, where appropriate, will be presented with the dissenting vote of the Basque Socialists, who are part of the coalition headed by Iñigo Urkullu.

Also the popular Isabel Díaz Ayuso, from the Government of the Community of Madrid, has announced that they will challenge the norm.
