The figure of Josep Pla (1897-1981) is as influential and quoted as it is full of chiaroscuro, and the bibliography on the writer from Emporda has never stopped growing, including the biographies of Cristina Badosa or Xavier Febrés (author of a handful of books about him) or the works dedicated to him by Lluís Bonada, Enric Vila or Arcadi Espada. Among other studies, Xavier Pla already published in 1997 Josep Pla, autobiographical fiction and literary truth, and finally, on March 20 Destino will publish Un cor furtiu. Life of Josep Pla.

According to the publisher, there are 1,600 with the “most complete and most incisive, most detailed and most exciting” story. “While revealing the ups and downs of a life lavished in vicissitudes – friendships, political complications, love affairs, espionage and counter-espionage… -, Xavier Pla makes us relive the most crucial moments from within of the history of the 20th century”, continues the editorial.

Xavier Pla (Girona, 1966) directs the Josep Pla Chair of Literature and Journalism at the University of Girona, where he is a professor of Contemporary Catalan Literature, and his latest book is El soldat de Baltimore. Essays on literature and reality in times of self-fiction (Lleonard Muntaner, 2022).
