It is no coincidence that last night Oscar D’Aniello and Helena Miquel chose the theme Let’s start from scratch again to begin their concert in the gardens of the Palau de Pedralbes, the first of the new cycle Les Nits de Barcelona. And the fact is that there are many comings and goings that the Catalan duo has starred in in recent times.

First were Facto Delafé and Las Flores Azules. Then, after the departure of Marc Barrachina, they became Delafé and Las Flores Azules. And, some time later, when the Barcelona artist announced that she was getting off the train in 2015, the musical project came to an end and the two tried their luck by starting out separately.

Loyal as few were, fans refused to believe they were facing a final goodbye and lobbied to get them back together. An effort that paid off, since the members, who for years were a romantic couple, joined forces again to be that magnetic duo that dazzled the public so much. “We have always done what came out of our noses”, they acknowledged in an interview with La Vanguardia when they announced their return. The truth is that there was a good reason to do it: to celebrate twenty years of his musical career. And if there’s one thing this duo is good at, it’s celebrating life and everyday life with a lot of rhythm, as they demonstrated yesterday.

“Good night, Barcelona, ??once again. It will take place at night and we will all do it together”, greeted the couple energetically from a stage located between trees and where the first eight concerts of the festival will be held, among which Las Migas or Buhos also stand out. They continued their repertoire with a smile at all times and with songs such as Intent o, Como loco and La Juani, the latter the soundtrack of the Bigas film Luna Jo soc la Juani (2006). “White, red, green, yellow. Today they are partying, everyone in the neighborhood”, chanted the audience, of very varied ages, although mostly millennials, when they heard her. This was just a sample of the euphoria of the atmosphere, which had the applause as a backdrop for the little more than an hour and a half that the concert lasted.

“We have been waiting for them for a long time. They marked our university stage and we refused to believe that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy live the good vibes they always give off”, recognized Joana and Montse, two sisters who came from Lloret just for to this show “We asked for a party at work on Friday so we can enjoy this night to the fullest and without rushing.”

There were several who had the same idea and decided to start the weekend early. Others, on the other hand, were braver and weren’t afraid to wake up early the next day. “When what’s playing is one of your favorite bands and you haven’t seen them in a long time, there’s no excuse not to come,” said Sergio. And like him, many others who must have thought the same, since it was a sold out night. The organization told La Vanguardia that the entire capacity of this first stage of the festival was sold, or, what is the same, around a thousand tickets, all of them at very competitive prices, since they ranged from 7 and 22 euros, which also allowed direct access to the restaurant area.

“We are very happy. Let’s pray that it doesn’t rain. They say that around 11 p.m. four drops could fall.” Finally, although there was some lightning and it rained during the last song, nothing dampened the party, which for some had already started hours before the doors opened.

The classics were tragically mixed with newer songs, such as Quiromántica, the pop single about the force of fate. Although it was released in mid-March, the public passed the exam, as a large part showed that they knew the letter word for word. Of course, they also did not stop singing other hits that have already gone down in the history of national music, such as 1984 or Espíritu santo, the most danced. But one of the greatest moments of euphoria was experienced with La primavera, one of the main tracks of the album Vs. Trumpets of Death. “Spring has arrived in the city!”, shouted the vocalists happily, even though the high temperatures reminded us that we are already in summer.

After this triumphant premiere, thirty international artists such as Natalia Lafourcade, Melody Gardot or Sebastián Yatra, as well as prestigious local and national musicians such as Alizzz, David Bisbal, are expected in the Pedralbes gardens for the next 45 days , Friends of the Arts or Elephants. As Delafé and Las Flores Azules say in Mar the power of the sea, “this does not stop”. There is no more appropriate motto to summarize this beginning and everything that is to come.
