WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, a D.C. chiropractor stormed Congress’ halls on Jan. 6, and was taken into custody by federal agents. They were descending on his office blocks from the Capitol.
According to NBC News, David Walls-Kaufman was arrested at the Capitol Hill Chiropractic Center by a source who is familiar with the matter. Walls-Kaufman’s exact location was not immediately known.
An FBI official confirmed that law enforcement activity was being conducted at Walls-Kaufman’s office. A witness independent also confirmed that law enforcement activity was taking place at the office.
Although the case against Walls-Kaufman is not yet sealed, a source close to the matter said that he would appear in court on Thursday. This will be the same day as the House investigation committee into the Jan. 6 riots holds its first public hearing.
Walls-Kaufman’s lawyer has been contacted by NBC News.
In August, online sleuths identified Walls-Kaufman. Walls-Kaufman is seen pulling up his hoodie and joining the mob that marches past officers into the Capitol Building, just outside Nancy Pelosi’s Office. You could see him at the front of the mob near the Speaker’s Lobby, where Ashli Babbitt, a rioter, was killed and shot by police after she jumped out of a broken window while members of Congress evacuated the House floor.
Walls-Kaufman wraps his fist around Smith’s baton in body camera footage taken by Jeffrey Smith, a D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer. This was as Smith tried to stop rioters from entering the Capitol Building. Smith committed suicide days later than Jan. 6, and his death was ruled accidental.
Walls-Kaufman’s Facebook page revealed that he had promoted conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 election. Smith’s widow is currently bringing a civil suit against him.
