Yolanda DÃaz returned to Barcelona yesterday, a circumstance that is no longer particularly newsworthy. The vice-president of the Spanish Government already this spring encouraged the beginnings of the municipal election pre-campaign, and then she was seen among the books and roses at the St George’s Day stalls, and also among the finos and the faralaes, with carnation behind the ear included, together with the mayoress Ada Colau, in the booths of the Feria de Abril de Catalunya.
During the last two weeks, Vice President DÃaz also participated in the meetings of the mayoress and mayor of BComú in the districts of Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó and, finally, Sant MartÃ.
And it is not strange, the truth, because here, in Barcelona, she is always received with great affection and very cheerfully presented as the next president of the Spanish Government. Perhaps here, in Barcelona, DÃaz finds much more peace than in other places. In fact, yesterday in Sant MartÃ, at the end of the municipal elections campaign, it was and took much of the center stage from the mayoress Colau herself. At times, the meeting seemed more typical of the upcoming general election campaign than of these municipal ones. Jaume Asens also took the floor and, in this case through a recording, the leader of Podemos, Ione Belarra.
DÃaz returned to Barcelona yesterday, gained momentum and boasted about the results of his economic management, the number of indefinite contracts in operation, the temporary indices, the unemployment rate… “They told us it was not possible – emphasized the vice-president – that we would destroy the economy, that we would destroy everything, and we have shown them that they were wrong, that the problem is not workers’ rights, but the margins of large companies”. And he added that he will continue to work for workers’ rights, “because a 66-year-old worker cannot climb a scaffolding, nor can one continue fixing rooms…”.
DÃaz comes to Barcelona so much that he sometimes repeats himself, and yesterday, as he did at the rally held in Horta-Guinardó, he said again that he knows Alberto Núñez Feijóo very well, and he reminded again that, apparently , the leader of the PP is willing to give his votes to Jaume Collboni and Xavier Trias on the condition that Colau be removed from the mayor’s office. “Because all three have the same model, because all three are the same.”
