Comuns Sumar proposes multiplying the capacity of the public renewable energy company by ten

Comuns Sumar has proposed this Friday to multiply by ten the capacity of l’Energètica, the public company owned by the Generalitat of Catalonia dedicated to promoting renewable energy born two years ago. This is the commitment that the number two candidate for the parliamentary elections on May 12, Lluís Mijoler, has established during a visit to a solar energy production plant in the town of Centelles.

“We have been saying for many years that our country is at the bottom of renewable energy in the entire State. The Government has missed many opportunities,” said Mijoler, who wants to turn the situation around and move towards “energy sovereignty.” through public investment. This objective of multiplying the capacity of l’Energètica tenfold will require investments worth approximately 1,000 million euros, according to sources from the candidacy.

The commons want to execute an investment calendar to guarantee renewable supply to all the facilities of the Generalitat of Catalonia and share the surplus with the energy communities, emulating local initiatives carried out in Centelles and El Prat de Llobregat. This roadmap is quite similar to the one announced by the Government when it launched the public electricity company owned by the Generalitat.

Lluís Mijoler is also the mayor of El Prat de Llobregat, a city in which they aim to have the largest local energy community in Spain using public-private collaboration. Even with the support of the local parishes, the initiative has begun to move on a smaller scale at the moment.

Albiach’s number two has denounced “difficulties in the local world to accelerate photovoltaic installations individually and collectively” that he knows first-hand. In this sense, he has promised a decree to accelerate all these types of procedures.
