Compromís stands up to Mazón. The coalition ombudsman in Les Corts, Joan Baldoví, will not attend this Wednesday the meeting called by the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, to try to agree with the parliamentary groups on a Valencian agenda demanding the new government of Spain. Compromís considers that Mazón’s call is nothing more than “a stage set to whitewash the repeated actions of the Consell and the majority that supports it [PP and Vox] that go against, precisely, the spirit of dialogue and agreement.”
Furthermore, in a letter that Baldoví has ??sent to the head of the Consell, the coalition requests that, “once the Consell agrees on a common position on the Valencian agenda”, this be sent to Les Corts to “debate its content and provide proposals for resolution that the parliamentary groups consider appropriate”. It is true that on issues such as debt forgiveness, one of the key demands of the Valencian agenda, PP and Vox do not have the same criteria.
And Compromís accepts this to renounce going to the Palau de la Generalitat: “If the Consell does not have the capacity to have a common and unified position on issues as important as debt forgiveness, we understand that those proposed to us are not “It is an institutional dialogue on behalf of the Generalitat but of the political parties.”
In the letter, Compromís also makes clear its discomfort with some of the measures promoted without dialogue by the Consell, such as the proposal to change the majorities in the election of the control bodies of À Punt, or the publication of videos that point out Valencian deputies for having voted for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez.
Thus, they demand that “dialogue should not be confused with monologue or agreement with imposition” and they reiterate that, at the time of the meeting, the Compromís deputies “will continue with their work in the Valencian Parliament, which should be the center of Valencian political life and the scene of agreements between the different parliamentary groups”.
After the no from Compromís and the absence of the head of the PSPV, Ximo Puig (two leaders of the socialist parliamentary group will go), Mazón’s appointment this Wednesday with the parliamentary groups remains weak and with little chance of reaching great agreements.
