Catalunya en Comú has not yet designed the electoral lists for 23-J, but with the agreement for the integration of Sumar with Podemos it was revealed that the organization secretary of Podemos, Lilith Verstrynge, will be number four on the list of the commons for Barcelona, a designation that from the Catalan formation indicates that it is an “act of generosity” on their part to favor the agreement for the great coalition headed by Vice President Yolanda Díaz.

Common sources indicate that the reservation of number four on the list was agreed with Podemos and that it was the formation of Ione Belarra who decided who to place in that position. In this way, the controversy aroused last week was left behind, in full negotiations with Podemos, the commons denounced that the purple formation was negotiating in parallel with ERC an eventual confluence.

With the global agreement with Podemos unraveled, despite the fact that those of Belarra still hope to be able to make room for the vetoed Minister of Equality Irene Montero, the common believe that there is everything to turn the page and stop talking about lists and the party, to talk about Proposals against the “scorched earth policies” of the PP. But the spokesman for the Catalan formation, Joan Mena, has placed the inclusion of Verstrynge as “the best example of generosity to work based on an agreement”, and “it is a gesture of generosity because we have put unity ahead”, he assured .

However, the commons lists for the 23-J elections have yet to be defined. According to Mena, it should be the training management bodies that decide. He must do it this week because the deadlines for submitting them end on June 17. “This week will also be busy,” say party sources, where it remains to be seen if the current president of the United Podemos parliamentary group, Jaume Asens, repeats as head of the list. The same sources say that Asens would like to repeat, but his appointment is unclear.

While the Catalan formation internally discusses the composition of its candidates for Congress, with Vestrynge assured in the fourth by Barcelona, the commons consider “the agreement with Sumar ratified”, although they regret that “more has been said about who than about what”. Aware of the damage that the public dispute between Sumar and Podemos has caused, the commons have proposed to dedicate themselves “only to talking about the country model” from now on and “not to spend a single moment more talking about lists or the party”. . It will be inevitable to fail in this commitment.
