When the summer’s european championship finals is over, so is Jon Dahl Tomasson finished as assistant coach for the national team.
But he appears to have a fine name also outside Denmark.
In each case, reports the Swedish newspaper Expressen, the Swedish team Malmö FF, who last week defeated FC Copenhagen in the Europa League, have shown interest for the most scoring midfielder through the ages.
– Malmö FF should have characteristic with Åge Hareides assistant coach Jon Dahl Tomasson. The dane, however, would focus fully on Denmark’s european championship finals this summer, writes the newspaper.
Jon Dahl Tomasson has previously been the head coach of the Dutch Roda and Excelsior, but the past four years he has been Åge Hareides assistant.
And as late as march of this year told Hareide that he saw Tomasson as his successor as national coach.
– It should be Jon Dahl Tomasson. It is quite obvious. Yes, it would be foolish, if you do not take him. In a national team it is very much about continuity.
– DBU at what they will get if they choose Jon Dahl. He must not pass through a new oplæringsproces to be the national coach. I am impressed by Jons football. He is extremely committed, skilled analytical thinking and football in the same way as me, said Hareide in march to Ekstra Bladet.

Before Uwe Rösler was Åge Hareide head coach of Malmo, and when the Norwegian has recommended Jon Dahl Tomasson as the successor of landstrænerposten, so he has probably also talked warmly about Tomasson of Malmö.
