The candidacy of Xavier Trias yesterday presented 80 measures for the first 80 days of his mandate, an initiative that, in the final stretch of the campaign, once again places the program and the proposals at the center of the debate, beyond the pimp-pam- pum of these two weeks.
Trias and the councilors of JxCat Neus Munté and Jordi Martàpresented some of the most prominent measures, related to cleaning, safety, the interprofessional minimum wage for the Catalan capital, the recovery of the interior of the islands of the Eixample or the housing.
So, Trias, if he is elected mayor, plans, during the first days of his mandate, to summon the contractors of the cleaning service; stop the works planned by the current municipal government, and which have not yet started, to make the so-called “green axes” – “they are not superblocks, they are conversions of streets into pedestrian areas”, he said -; convene the local safety board to bring a shock plan to it, and address with the social agents and the State the recognition of an interprofessional minimum wage for the city of Barcelona, a proposal that was already promoted in 2015 and which was then left in a drawer.
Also, the training envisages creating a commissioner for the Catalan language and a language office and strengthening the work so that Barcelona is the “European capital of local commerce”, and that “the technical office of this capital comes to Barcelona”. The post-convergents hope that this “will be the seed of local commerce”, which, Munté assured, “generates economic activity and gives shape to the neighbourhoods”.
In terms of housing, the formation wants to work in an agreement with all the actors and all the political forces to make a long-term plan. “It’s not just building, it’s also rehabilitating. We have areas of Barcelona where the houses are in a very bad state”, said Trias.
The post-convergent candidate pointed out that his major urban transformations will be to join the Paral·lel with the Marina del Prat Vermell neighborhood, cover the Ronda de Dalt and finish the Carretera de les Aigües, connect the Besòs with the coastal front and join the Sagrera, Les Glòries and França station in one axis.
On the other hand, the former mayor pointed out that the “main political threat” is that Ada Colau “continues” in the City Council. In any case, he assured that he hopes to go to lunch with her after the elections. “If we went to lunch together before the campaign, the most logical thing would be for us to come back afterwards and be able to put things into perspective and have a good personal relationship, which is something that should never be lost”, said Trias .
