The vote of the board of directors yesterday put an end to the controversy surrounding the signing of presenter David Broncano for Spanish television (RTVE), which automatically became ammunition in the parliamentary clash between PSOE and PP.
“Among the program that he wants to bring to TVE nights, plus the earmuffs that have been brought to this Parliament, the ELA law was financed and there was money left over,” said Alberto Núñez Feijóo to Pedro Sánchez during yesterday’s plenary session.
The popular leader was thus referring to the hiring of the comic that Génova has elevated to the category of political controversy after framing it in an alleged intention of the PSOE to dispute the leadership of the so-called prime time Pablo Motos, the program of which, El hormiguero, includes a gathering space that repeatedly charges against the Spanish Government.
“We both know it’s not going well; you survive trancas y barrancas, Mr. Sánchez”, added Feijóo as a sign of complicity to the names of the mascots that appear with Motos in his Antena3 program.
The fact is that the board of directors of RTVE agreed yesterday to contract the format of La Resistencia, directed and conducted by Broncano, to broadcast it from September 2024 to July 2027 on La 1.
And he did it with five votes in favor – two from Concepción Cascajosa, who asserted his quality vote as president, another from the councilor also proposed by the PSOE Ramón Colom, a quarter from the one elected by the PNB, Juan José Baños, and a fifth, by councilor Roberto Lakidain, at the proposal of Unides Podem–, in the face of the three votes against the councilors of the PP and the abstention of José Manuel Martín Medem, also elected at the time at the proposal of Unides We can, however, today integrated into Sumar given its membership in the PCE.
The proposal brought by Cascajosa to the vote, and which his predecessor, Elena Sánchez, refused to support and led to his subsequent dismissal, amounts to 14 million euros per season, and can be canceled or renegotiated from the second if a screen share of 7.5% is not reached in the first six months.
Feijóo framed this disbursement in Sánchez’s need to improve his “television vanity”, although he predicted little return for the interests of the leader of the Executive and assured him that “people are not interested in propaganda ” of whom “he has dynamized the acronym of his party, he is no longer a socialist nor is he a worker nor is he Spanish”.
Sources from the entity, however, point out that the amount of each of the programs that Broncano will conduct at the return of the televised summer will amount to 87,000 euros. 25% less than the nearly 120,000 euros that costs on average each episode of the 4-star series currently broadcast in this television slot.
