Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2023 started yesterday confirming that it is one of the most important bridal fairs in the world. Abasarí Caro, the new director, was exultant. Packed to capacity in all parades, especially with Asian and Italian guests. And the gold brooch was put on by the haute couture designer Elie Saab, who exceptionally changed Paris for Barcelona to present the first fashion show exclusively for bridal fashion at the Maritime Museum.

In the morning, the catwalk was inaugurated by Jesús Peiró, who celebrated the firm’s 35 years. “We are currently opting for the renewed classic – explains designer Merche Segarra -. Light silhouettes with bolder elements that we incorporate from the dresses on the red carpets, such as tops, pants, feathers, cut out… And the riskiest brides are the bigger ones or those who don’t have a standard size”.

The Basque firm chosen by Tamara Falcó to marry Íñigo Onieva on July 8. “(G)euria, the name of the collection that plays with these two words in Basque that mean ‘our’ and ‘rain’, because it is as if we are sprouting again”, explains the designer Sofía Arribas, who adds that the The Marquise de Griñón’s dress is completely customized, “even though it maintains our essence”.

The Valencian Isabel Sanchís has made flowers the signature of the firm and, in addition, has given prominence to the collection she presented yesterday in the Catalan capital. “Our bride is a bold woman who understands the wedding as a party and dresses boldly in expensive pants and shirts, or in sculptural volumes with huge flowers applied to dresses and veils,” says Paula, Isabel’s daughter Sanchis

“The first is plain, short dresses, with asymmetries and cut outs. In the third, we have recovered coinages of flowers from the fifties. And the second, the most extensive, is the boho that characterizes us”, explains Yolanda, the designer. And Cristina, who takes care of the financial part, points out: “It’s just that no one does boho better than my sister”.
