This new edition, which reaches number 41, asserts itself more forcefully than ever. The book in Catalan stars, from yesterday until September 17, at the Moll de la Fusta, a prolonged festival of culture in which, according to Cristina Domènech, director of the contest, “we want to seduce the reader by teaching him all its wealth of fiction, non-fiction, travel, cookery, science books… A whole world”.

The Week will make it possible for the reader to make contact with the most outstanding literary debuts, authors such as Regina Rodríguez Sirvent, Andrea Genovart or Josep Ortiz, whose profile Francesc Bombí-Vilaseca traces in these pages. It will also allow you to get closer to the rich work of the writer Mercè Ibarz, who received the Trajectòria de la Setmana award, a career that Julià Guillamon describes and evaluates in detail.

This 2023 commemorates a milestone in Catalan poetry: the forty years of L’edat d’or, the poem collection by Francesc Parcerisas published by Jaume Vallcorba’s Quaderns Crema publishing house, with an influence that continues to this day. Jordi Llavina remembers the moment and invites different current authors to analyze its importance.

In the historical chapter, Joan Esculies reviews the range of titles on various topics: from 1714 to bandits, passing through the biographies of Gaudí and Domènech i Montaner. And we offer an unpublished account of the experience of Josep Palau i Fabre in the Civil War.
