The councilor for Vox and the new head of Tourism for the Mallorcan municipality of Alcúdia, Juan Mateu Gual, worked for years as a drag queen in the nightclubs of Eivissa, where he has a profusion of images on his social networks. The Vox councilor was at least until 2020 participating in shows in venues in Eivissa frequented by members of the LGTBI community, despite the homophobic messages from many militants from Santiago Abascal’s formation.
Images from that time appear on both Facebook and Instagram, although they correspond to a few years ago since currently they do not show drag queen spills. On her Facebook profile, she describes herself as an ambassador for Ibiza “exporting her brand all over the planet” and ensures that he works in “public relations, image and producer”.
If I work in Alcúdia it will now be very different from the one I had in Eivissa, where I will be the councilor for Tourism of the town. The PP and Vox have reached a government agreement in the town that implies the entry of the Voz councilors into the municipal team. The new mayoress of Alcúdia, Fina Linares (PP), has downplayed the fact that one of her councilors was a drag queen in the past.
The profile of the new councilor contracts with that of the recently elected president of the Balearic Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne, also from Vox, an ultra-Catholic denier of climate change and who questions the usefulness of vaccines in minors and acknowledges that he did not vaccinate his children. The new president of Parliament has expressed numerous homophobic comments on his social networks.
