The two million people who, according to their accounts, the PP managed to gather in the streets of Spain this weekend have encouraged Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s party and increased the tone of criticism against the president of the Spanish Government.

The deputy secretary of organization of the PP, Miguel Tellado, who appeared before the media after the meeting of the popular steering committee, went so far as to say that “Sánchez should leave the country in a trunk” , thus evoking the way in which, according to some accounts of the events of 2017, Carles Puigdemont fled Spain.

For Tellado, “the humiliation that Sánchez is subjecting the country to, the humiliation of the rule of law, the humiliation of the separation of powers, essential in any democracy”, are reason enough for the president to leave Spain.

The same Tellado, Feijóo’s confidant, due to the journalists’ questions, later downgraded the comment to the character of “facetiousness in relation to the massive deception” to which Sánchez, in his opinion, has subjected the citizens, for give in to everything he previously defended, which is why, as he said, he has deceived the Spanish, “starting with the socialist voters”.

The PP considers the agreements with the pro-independence parties “a democratic anomaly” and therefore asks the PSOE to reflect and allow citizens to express themselves at the polls.

The PP continues to appeal to PSOE critics to oppose the amnesty. He does not value words like those of the president of Castile-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, but only facts, and in this sense he reminded the socialist baron of the attitude of his twin brother, who has resigned from the PSOE because does not agree with Sánchez’s concessions. Here “the only honest one is the twin”, said Tellado.

The amnesty is on the way, it is already registered in Congress and the PP is ready to use all the instruments at its disposal so that it does not come to fruition, both in the legal and institutional spheres, and above all in Europe , where they have their hopes. Debates in the European Parliament, explanatory letters to the highest representatives of the European institutions and the resources you can present there.

According to the leadership of the PP, in Europe “there is concern for the democratic quality” of Spain, after the PSOE’s agreements with Junts and the amnesty law. “Europe – said Tellado – looks carefully at what the Spanish Government intends”.

The only instrument that has no place in the plans of the PP, at least for the moment, is the general strike. In this area, the PP emphasizes that “general strikes are called by the unions”, and the initiative of the Vox union, Solidaridad, has only been known by the press, so that, in the event that it is called, Tellado said , the PP “would listen to the unions and also the employers”.

The PP does not explicitly reject the general strike, because it considers that it may be a probe balloon by Vox, and does not want to go behind the Santiago A bascal party. From the PP, it is emphasized that the party has never been outside the institutional system, and that is why they consider that the general strikes correspond to the unions. What the popular people do not rule out is repeating a call for mobilizations like the one on Sunday, but they will not participate in any “surround the Congress, nor in this kind of demonstrations”, like the ones that have taken place in Madrid in recent days.
