Vancouver woman, 35, arrested in hit-and-run that killed pedestrian

A 35-year-old Vancouver woman turned herself in to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday following a hit-and-run the previous night in which a 44-year-old man died.

Jessica Bankhead told police she was the driver of the 1988 Nissan Pathfinder that hit Richard Waller of Vancouver who was walking about 11 p.m. Saturday in the inside eastbound lane in the 2300 block of Northwest Minnehaha Street. Waller was found dead at the scene. A shopping cart was found near his body.

Bankhead was booked into the Clark County Jail on a felony high-and-run allegation. Her vehicle was located and seized as evidence. The damage to the vehicle was consistent with the collision.
