There is agreement. The lawyers of the administration of Justice (former judicial secretaries) have supported today in different assemblies the last proposal of the Ministry of Justice -they are promised a salary increase of up to 450 euros per month- which implies putting an end to a strike that has lasted more than two months.

This increase in salary will be gradual, until the year 2024. According to some sources, 1,524 lawyers (of the more than 4,000 on staff) have voted in these assemblies called by the strike committee and 76% would have supported the Justice proposal. 421 have voted against and 68 have abstained.

The two parties in dispute have met for tomorrow at 11:00 am, when it is expected to seal the agreement and put an end to a strike that has passed an expensive bill to the citizens. The unprecedented strike has forced the halt of almost 340,000 trials and 424,000 lawsuits.

In addition, during these two months, almost 1,300 million euros have been blocked in the accounts of the courts. A money that for justice should already be in the pocket of the citizens.

The salary increase proposed by the Ministry of Justice is far from the claim of these lawyers, but these professionals have ended up accepting this offer so as not to cause more damage, as a public service, to citizens.

The salary increase of 430 euros between now and July 2024 will affect the majority (94%) of the workforce.

This strike has made one thing very clear. The primary role of these court secretaries, which is key in the day-to-day of these offices. They run the courts, are essential for issuing decisions and manage bank accounts.

The strike has paralyzed from trials, to payments for alimony or compensation for accidents, in addition to many weddings planned in those offices and which have been suspended without a date of celebration.
